That depends on the matter and the applicable rules. I am licensed in Idaho and not admitted in California. I assess whether I can assist before accepting an engagement and whether appropriately licensed local counsel is needed.

An existing agreement may still warrant review. Whether amendment, renegotiation, or another option is available depends on its terms and the circumstances.
